I never followed a traditional route into design, I followed instinct, creativity, and a life long love of bridal.
As a child, I was always designing dresses for dolls, with scraps of fabric from my grandma’s sewing box. Life took me down a different path at first, (geology and town planning!) but creativity always found it’s way back in.
After having triplets (life’s wildest adventure), I moved into freelance work, becoming a wedding blogger, stylist, secret tea-party thrower and event organiser, spending years immersed in real weddings, real stories and real people.
From the front row of the industry, I could see what was missing. Bridal wear with texture, movement and feeling, pieces that felt modern, expressive and genuinely comfortable to wear. Nothing quite reflected the dresses I felt drawn to, or the way I believed bridal could feel.
So I began designing. I design every Shikoba gown myself, sourcing fabrics, imagining each detail, and working closely with my seasmstresses to bring the designs to life. Every piece begins with feeling, and is shaped with care, experience and intuition.
Shikoba Bride was born from a belief that bridal wear should feel individual, honest and full of heart, created to celebrate the person wearing it.
