frequently asked questions

HOW DO I ORDER MY DRESS?

We recommend making an appointment with one of our Stockists Boutique, you can find them on our Stockists page.

If you don’t have a stockist near you, get in touch for further assistance. You can browse the Shikoba Bride dress collection in the online boutique.

HOW DO I TAKE MY MEASUREMENTS?

If you have booked an appointment through our Stockists, they will take your measurements for you and guide you through the process.

If you don’t have a stockist nearby, we can help you with lots of detailed information about how to take your measurements.

HOW DO I DECIDE WHAT SIZE TO ORDER?

If you find your Shikoba dress at one of our Stockist’s boutiques, they will take your measurements and advise of which size to order.

In all other circumstance we advise which size in that particular design to choose to best fit you based on the measurements you provide.

HOW DOES YOUR SIZING WORK?

Based in Britain we use standard UK sizing and all our designs are available in sizes 6-26. If you want a different size to these, please do get in touch as some styles can be made either side of these sizes.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE OF MY WEDDING SHOULD I ORDER MY DRESS?

If you love a dress we’d suggest you place your order as soon as you can, so we allocate the fabric to ensure availability, particularly our fabric runs for limited edition designs. As a minimum we’d suggest ordering your dress ideally with at least 9-7 months to go till the big day, to ensure it’s with you in plenty of time.

CAN YOU DO EXPRESS ORDERS?

The dress making/shipping process takes 4-6 months dependant on design, please get in touch to discuss your requirements to see whether we can assist if your timeframe is shorter.

DO YOU MAKE CUSTOMISED DESIGNS?

We do offer a very limited number of bespoke designs a year, and there is currently a waiting list only for this service at the moment with pricing starting at approx £3000.  However many or our dresses offer a number of options to customise them to make them unique to you, for example with or without fringing, with or without skirt splits, different sleeve lengths, sleeve styles, no cutouts, back and necklines being some of the easily accommodated customisations. Sometimes we might recommend the customisation be carried out with your own seamstress (eg some necklines are better lowered once you’ve tried the dress on to get the exact positioning to suit you).

If you wish to make a none standard customisation to a gown, you can request this and of course, if we can help we will, this may incur additional costs dependent on the request. These costs will be quoted at the time via the Stockist you are ordering your design with.

WHAT IF MY MEASUREMENTS CHANGE BEFORE THE WEDDING?

We’d always recommend ordering the size based on the measurements at the time of ordering as this can be altered by your seamstress to fit. However, if you think your measurements may change from when you place the order, speak to your Bridal Boutique so they can advise.

DO YOU DO ALTERATIONS?

We don’t do alterations but we recommend using a reputable seamstress near to you if you need to alter the dress.

DO YOU SUPPLY SAMPLE DRESSES TO TRY ON?

All of our Stockists have a selection of Shikoba Gowns to try in boutique. We have a selection of gowns that can be lent to the Stockists boutiques for brides to try on, there is a small fee for this additional service that is usually redeemable against the purchase of a Shikoba Gown in boutique. Ask locally for specific details.

All of our own sample dresses are used for this service above or product, editorial and magazine shoots and so unfortunately we are unable to send these out direct to be to tried on.

DO YOU HAVE STOCKISTS?

Yes, you can find your Shikoba Bride dress at our epic Shikoba Stockists, if we don’t have a Stockist in your area, get in touch for assistance.

WHAT ABOUT TAXES AND CUSTOMS?

If you are purchasing your dress from us as there is no Stockist near you and you are based outside the UK you need to consider custom and import duties.

Each countries import duties and taxes vary, payable locally by yourself and you may need to pay duty to receive your delivery if you are outside the UK.  These costs are not included in the price of the dress and are payable by yourself directly to your customs department.  You can find out an estimated cost from your Customs Department. We strongly advise any bride outside the UK to find out what import taxes and duties they may be charged so you can factor this into your purchase.
